Acute and Chronic Pain

Acute and Chronic Pain

Acupuncture has long been recognized as an effective treatment for pain. The symptoms of physical pain can vary greatly, from mild, sharp, severe or dull.

Acute pain develops suddenly and can last a short time. It progresses into chronic pain if left untreated. Pain is considered chronic when it lasts beyond the inflammatory and healing process—at least 12 weeks after trauma has caused the initial inflammation.
